Lippincott’s Textbook forLong-Term Care Nursing Assistants focuses exclusively on preparing nursing assistants to work in the long-term care setting (that is, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities). Because most of the people a nursingassistant is caring for in the long-term care setting will be elderly, this adaptation has a strong gerontology component. The book also strives to help the student to understand the long-term care environment, which is heavily regulated by the government.
In addition to all of the features found in Carter: Lippincott’s Textbook for Nursing Assistants, Lippincott’s Textbook for Long-Term Care NursingAssistants includes a “Be Smart About Surveys!” feature (to demystify thesurvey process for the student by raising the student’s awareness of what the surveyor is looking for during a survey) and “Dementia Care Tips”, which highlight special care considerations for residents with dementia.
A bound-in CD-ROM and a companion Website include a Spanish-English audio glossary, learning objectives, Listen and Learn, and 29 Watch and Learn video clips.
